External Audit Prep Studio

A six-week path for controllers, senior accountants, and shared-service leads who need a financial auditing app for external audit preparation — practiced with real binder artifacts, not quizzes alone.

Team collaborating during an audit preparation workshop

What you will leave with

  • A staged evidence workspace

Folders, owners, and cross-references set up inside the app before kickoff.

  • Four reviewed artifacts

Trial balance tie-out, sample sheet, walkthrough note, and a cut-off memo annotated by instructors.

  • A mock inquiry recording

Modules

Week-by-week structure

  1. Kickoff & materiality conversations

Translate engagement letters into internal owners. Map what “significant account” means for your entity size.

  2. App workspace & naming discipline

Configure the financial auditing app: request queues, evidence tags, and version history that auditors can follow.

  3. PBC decoding & binder assembly

Break vague lists into tickets. Build a living tracker that survives mid-season scope changes.

  4. Sampling & supporting schedules

Document selection logic, exceptions, and source-system extracts without screenshot sprawl.

  5. Walkthroughs & control honesty

Write narratives that admit compensating controls and timing gaps — then evidence them.

  6. Mock fieldwork & handoff

Run a timed inquiry session and finalize a readiness checklist for your manager.

Instructor

Who teaches the Studio

Portrait of course instructor Avery Lin

Avery Lin

Former engagement senior turned product coach. Avery has guided Taipei-based finance teams through first-year audits and designs Scalableappz drills around what partners actually reopen.

She co-teaches app labs with practitioners who still close books monthly — so shortcuts that only work in demos get cut.

FAQ

Before you enroll

Do I need an existing financial auditing app license?

A sandbox workspace is provided for drills. If your company already uses a platform, you may complete graded artifacts there with instructor approval.

Is this a substitute for IFRS or ISA study?

No. We assume foundational accounting knowledge. The Studio focuses on preparation workflows and evidence quality, not exam content.

What is a real limitation of this course?

We do not remediate weak IT general controls or rewrite your ERP. If access reviews are broken in the source system, the course helps you evidence the gap — it will not invent clean logs.

Can a team share one seat?

Seats are individual because feedback is personalized. Engagement Desk pricing covers multi-seat cohorts with a shared kickoff.

Learner notes

Recent voices on this course

“Week four’s sampling sheet became our permanent template. I still found the mock inquiry nerve-wracking — which was the point.”

Daniel W., Assistant Controller

Client in professional services: the Studio clarified ownership between FP&A and accounting for lease schedules. They noted homework volume is real during close week — plan capacity.
